Contractor Services

Our primary objective is to work in partnership with contractors to provide clients (people who are socially marginalised or at risk) with long term sustainable programmes of education and training that will lead towards further education or employment.

Summary descriptions of the services that we provide to contractors can be accessed from the sub-menu on this page. Examples of the kind of programmes that we have delivered within various sectors can be found on the contractors page. And short decriptions of the actual services provided to clients can be found in client services.

However, we recognise that contractors sometimes don't require a long term support programme for their client groups. For these groups we can provide short term, non-accredited projects. Such projects could include:

  • an arts programme run during a holiday period
  • a programme that addresses an issue of special and immediate relevance (such as knife crime amongst young people)
  • a programme of assistive music technology designed to improve the quality of life for hospice patients.

Although our course units can be delivered in stand-alone form, we are keen to work with contractors on the provision of progression qualifications for the clients that we work with.

Progression Qualifications help:

  • Increase participation at all levels and widen participation amongst groups currently under-represented
  • Provide opportunities for tentative returning learners to experience different curriculum areas with a view to making informed choices about their own learning needs or directions
  • Build confidence in the reluctant learner to go on to further learning opportunities in an informed way
  • Provide the tools to motivate learners and enable them to gain confidence by providing a supportive learning framework in which they can achieve real progress and acquire new skills or develop existing skills
  • Equip learners with some of the skills needed to move on to the next stage of their learning career
  • Provide progression onto sector specific qualifications in the National Qualification Framework.

Within our own organisation we provide a progression route for clients who have successfully achieved a Level 2 progression qualification. This progression route is based on our Level 3, Practitioner Training Programme. The Practitioner Training Programme can be accessed in three ways:

  • Through the programme that we run from our London base
  • Through our internship programme
  • Though delivery at a contractor's chosen site

Progression Qualifications

  • To achieve the Level 2 Award for Progression, the learner must achieve 12 unit credits. At least 3 unit credits must be taken from the core units.
  • To achieve the Level 2 Certificate for Progression, the learner must achieve 18 unit credits. At least 3 unit credits must be taken from the core units.
  • To achieve the Level 2 Diploma for Progression, the learner must achieve 33 unit credits. At least 6 unit credits must be taken from the core units.

See our Course Guide for information about our courses and the core and optional units that can be combined to achieve a Progression Qualification tailored to the requirements of a specific client group.
